Oh, Go To Blazers!

I rather like winter. No, scratch that- I love winter, not least because the opportunity to spiff up a bit via a neat blazer or two is something that is seriously welcome. And mine are handy things indeed- my old school blazer looks more Gogo Yubari than Balenciaga AW07 (even if I had the crest on the breast pocket removed, I go near pleated skirts with great reluctance, and I'm not seventeen years old or sadistic), but I've yet to find anything that's as good at topping off whatever I'm wearing and looking a bit put-together at the same time*. And it kind of sucks that in less than a week it'll be warm enough for me to have to put all my warm(ish) clothes into storage...
But I mustn't grumble. The very stylish people photographed on Tokyo Bopper** are giving me an excellent daily fix of sharp-shouldered neatness, and I love it for feeding my hiking-boot obsession of several years, right along with the blazer love***. It's not often that I fall completely in love with what appears to be the blog of a shop (and what wouldn't I give to visit the store in question, just to go goldfish-eyed at the staff and customers), but it's a giant shot of cheer in my otherwise bleak sartorial future. And hey, being vicariously stylish (if such a thing is possible) can't be too bad..

*not least when I'm interning.
** images from www.tokyobopper.com. I can't believe it took me over six months to say this, but I LOVE that site.
*** and this is where I curse myself for leaving my own fuck-off shoes, which I've had from the age of sixteen, in my cupboard at college. What was I thinking?

i am also a fan of the blazer.

i wish british winter weather was blazer weather.

i'm sure it is for some, but i've tried wearing mine recently and end up freezing.

Blazers are brilliant. I love the silly proportions in those photos, though I don't dare try them myself.

I love the way they have put an unconventional spin on the blazer...

i'm also a big fan of blazers. did you see the cute wool blazer that j.crew came out with for fall/winter with piping, gold buttons, & a nautical feel. so cute!

this is my first time visiting your blog & it's lovely. i'm adding your link to my blog.

I'm obsessed with blazers too. But I always try to keep down the rest of my outfit, otherwise it will look too serious.

I hate winter! I'm considering hibernating in my room until spring!

god I love blazers. I love the first pic especially - the dress! the boots! the hair! but much to my dismay and my eternal envy of those who can wear them without looking like some dumpy school kid, a pronounced hour-glass figure means I can never quite pull off the dapper, snide air of a public school boy that others achieve...

I'm still on the search for the perfect blazer.
One day I'm going to see it. And it'll probably be in the wrong size.

Bianca: you blog is Fashion Ivy, right? It's already on my links..
Poppy Lee: I think I have the opposite problem from you- winter's the only time when it's cool enough for me to wear a blazer :)
ENC: They remind me of things I've attempted myself, only I don't have half the panache of those girls..
Susie: Yes, it's not exactly typical blazer pairing, which is what I love so much- that, and the fact that they look like they're having a lot of fun.
Seamstress of Thought: I think I've seen pictures of it...it looked a bit like Balenciaga AW07, but thankfully at a less insane price. And thanks for liking my blog- yours is lovely too!
Cate: I have two blazers, both from my days at school- and at least blazer weather is heading your way- here it'll soon be too hot for me to wear mine.
Diana: Thank you, and of course I don't mind! I've added your blog too- I love the name.
Allure: I think the risk of looking too severe comes along with the blazer territory, which is why I mostly pop mine over casual clothes . But I like being reminded that it doesn't all have to be stiff and boring..
The Clothes Horse: I'm a chicken about heavy winters too, but I still prefer them to 40-degree-plus summers. Anyway, tropical winters are mild..
Headmistress: I feel you on the hourglass thing (that's my shape too), but I'm just oblivious enough to wear the insane stuff anyway. Never mind dapperness..
Meg: I've never quite found THE perfect blazer, but I can't really be bothered sometimes so I'm still stuck with part of my old uniform. I wouldn't mind a pretty, shrunken one though..

without access to proper footnote tools, she resorts to not one, not two, but three asterisks.

that's okay, we love you still, blogger!

i want to see pics of your style!!!!

I know, I did go a bit asterisk-mad..though the things I wear aren't all that camera-friendly so I doubt there'll be pictures up here any time soon. :)
